START YOUR ADVENTURE
The Dubrovnik City Walls have three entry points: Pile Gate, Ploce Gate, and near the Maritime Museum by Fort St. John. Depending on your pace and photo stops, walking the walls can take between 45 minutes and three hours. Starting from Pile Gate, you'll be able to enjoy the views of the Pile Gate bridge and the entrance to Old Town.
BOKAR FORT, PUNCJELA TOWER & LOVRIJENAC
As you move along, you'll see Puncjela Tower and Bokar Fort, which overlooks the popular kayaking spot in the western harbor. We recommend making a photo stop here because this spot offers the best views of Fort Lovrijenac, also known as the 'Gibraltar of Dubrovnik.'
LOKRUM ISLAND, ADRIATIC SEA & ST. JOHN FORT
Continue your walk and enjoy views of the Adriatic Sea and Lokrum Island. You can also explore small watchtowers that offer a glimpse into the life of ancient city guards. Looking towards the sea, you might spot kayakers and cliff jumpers near Buža bar. As you continue, you'll approach St. John Fort. From there, you can see the bustling Old Harbor, with ships and people strolling by.
COFFEE STOP
One of the most beautiful places on the walls to enjoy a coffee is Caffe Bar Minceta Tower. This is the highest point in Old Town, and it offers incredible city views that must be captured!
FINISH YOUR WALK
After visiting Minceta, you'll descend back down towards the Pile Gate entrance from which you came in and complete the walk around the Dubrovnik City Walls.

- Along the walls' circuit, visitors can find 4-5 cafes offering light snacks, coffee, ice cream, and water, providing ideal rest spots during the walk. Rest assured, there are plenty of restrooms along the route, so there's no need to avoid drinking water. Keeping hydrated is important!
- The city walls of Dubrovnik stretch over 2 kilometers and feature numerous stairs leading both up and down. It's advisable to wear comfortable, gripping footwear as the stonework may be slippery.
- Pack sunscreen and a hat! Temperatures can get very high even in the early hours, making it easy to get sunburn if you're not well-prepared.
Meeting Point
The main entrance to the city walls is right outside Pile Gate. Upon reaching Pile Gate, descend the steps to Stradun (the main street of Dubrovnik Old Town). On your right side, you'll see the large Onofrio Fountain, and on the left side, you will find the staircase leading up to the city walls.
